WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

This course is designed to empower adults with ADHD by shifting the narrative from one of shame and "fixing" to one of understanding, insight, and effective tools.

Here's how the course is structured:

Module 1: Introduction—Understanding Your Brain Wiring

Many adults with ADHD spend years wrestling with struggles they wrongly dismiss as personal failings—things like chronic procrastination, struggling to focus on "boring" tasks, or intense emotional reactions. We're going to dive into the science that validates these experiences.

First, you'll discover the fundamental difference between the Interest-Based Nervous System (typical of ADHD) and the Importance-Based (Neurotypical) Nervous System. This distinction is key to understanding why "importance" rarely drives you to act.

We'll explore the crucial role of dopamine dysregulation and how this neurotransmitter difference impacts everything from motivation and focus to reward sensitivity.

Finally, we'll map out the Five Core Brain Circuits —Motivation, Executive Function, Attention, Timing, and Emotional Regulation—and examine how their unique communication differences create your daily challenges.

Module 2: Task Initiation

Task Initiation is the core ADHD challenge of getting your brain to do what you intend to do, when you intend to do it. The difficulty isn't a lack of caring; it's an "invisible wall between thinking and doing" caused by dopamine regulation differences.

Traditional productivity advice often fails because the ADHD brain. This module provides a comprehensive "menu of activation options" to hack your motivation system, turning paralysing tasks into doable actions by aligning with your brain's natural need for stimulation.

Module 3: Time Management

Understand why you struggle with time management, planning, and procrastination—and why traditional productivity advice fails ADHD brains. Discover what actually works instead, with practical approaches designed for your operating system.

This module provides the essential strategies needed to bring the abstract concept of time into your awareness so you can successfully guide your actions and reduce the shame associated with time-related struggles.

Module 3: Working Memory

Here we'll unpack essential insights into Working Memory, your brain's mental "clipboard" that holds and manipulates information temporarily.

You will learn that reduced working memory capacity is a common neurological limitation in the ADHD brain—not a sign of laziness or poor effort—which leads to struggles like forgetting conversations, misplacing items, and task paralysis.

The core gain from this module is the shift in mindset from trying to force your brain to remember (which triggers anxiety and overwhelm) to learning how to externalise memory effectively. You will walk away equipped with practical systems to bypass this cognitive limitation.

Module 4: Organisational Skills

Many individuals with ADHD find keeping their personal spaces organised to be intensely challenging. This is not a failure of willpower; it’s a difference in how your brain manages attention, working memory, and resistance to low-interest tasks.

This module teaches you the foundational principles and practical hacks needed to organise your physical space, reduce overwhelm, and contain the chaos caused by the "out of sight, out of mind" problem.

Module 5: Cognitive Flexibiltiy

Cognitive flexibility, or flexible thinking, is your brain's essential ability to adapt, shift perspective, and find new solutions when life doesn't go as expected. For adults with ADHD, struggles with flexibility are not a character flaw, but a neurological challenge rooted in differences in the way the brain handles urgency, perspective-taking, and emotional intensity.

This module provides a warm, practical guide to developing the mental "clay" needed to mould and reshape your responses, empowering you to handle the unexpected with greater grit, resilience, and self-confidence.

Module 6: Emotional Control

Have you ever felt like small remarks hit you with the force of big waves, or found yourself struggling with rapid, intense mood fluctuations that seem disproportionate to the situation? These are common challenges tied to ADHD, often encompassing Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD) and general emotional overwhelm.

In this module, you will gain a clear understanding of the emotional regulation difficulties unique to the ADHD brain. Most importantly, you will develop practical, proven tools and strategies specifically for managing chronic overwhelm and intentionally building emotional resilience, giving you the capacity to weather emotional storms and respond to situations rather than just reacting to them.

Module 7: Grieving a Late ADHD Diagnosis

If you've recently received an adult ADHD diagnosis, you are likely experiencing a confusing wave of emotions—relief, validation, and a profound sense of loss. This loss is a form of grief, and it is completely normal and valid. This module is a compassionate guide to understanding, navigating, and processing the complex emotions that follow the realisation of "what could have been."

In this module, you will gain a greater understanding of diagnosis grief:

  • Why You Are Grieving: Understand that you are mourning the "loss of innocence" and the "missed expectations" tied to years of misunderstood struggles, career setbacks, and relationship difficulties.

  • The Stages of Diagnosis Grief: Learn how to recognise the emotional cycle.

  • The Hidden Costs of Going Undiagnosed: Acknowledge the impact of years spent masking and self-blaming.

  • Identifying Unprocessed Grief: Recognise the signs that your grief needs attention.
